Happy New Year!  2024 was a year of an extremely mild winter, then lots of rain in May and June, then no rain in July through September, then a little bit of winter again to close out the year.  2024 was also a year of hosting our wonderful guests, new and return, from near and far.  It is always a pleasure to be your "Inn When You're Out" when you visit Lanesboro.  Thank you for helping to make our 2024 full of human connection, joy, and laughter.  We look forward to the opportunity to host you in 2025!

Althought it is 80 degrees on this last weekend in September, everything around town exudes the Fall season.  Our downtown light poles are decorated (thank you Big Springs Farm, Lanesboro FFA and Lanesboro Businesses Promotion Group) with cornstalks, straw bales, pumpkins, and mums; the farmers are out harvesting corn (look for combines!); and our restaurants and food establishments are offering up fall flavors (butternut squash, apple cider, pumpkin spice and more!).

Recent national headlines have featured the many necessary ice rescues on northern Minnesota lakes - this warmer winter means our lake ice just isn't ready for one of Minnesota's favorite pasttimes - ice fishing.  The lack of snow and ice is not good for our northern Minnesota tourism businesses and visitors, as snowmobilers, dog sledders, skiiers, and other outdoor recreation enthusiasts can't enjoy these winter activities.  I sure hope we get some snow and cold temperatures soon - I live in Minnesota for a reason!
